About the role

The Scientific Data & Computing Center (SDCC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is seeking a Technology Analyst/Senior Technology Analyst to support scientific computing for the RHIC and ATLAS programs. The SDCC is a vibrant organization that develops solutions and provides necessary computing infrastructure to support BNL's science mission.

Responsibilities

• Aid in data center infrastructure management using DCIM tools
• Assist in the installation of new computer equipment
• Manage data center assets and hardware
• Contribute to the operational readiness of the SCDF
• Support off-hours data center operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in data center-related operations
• Familiarity with asset management and validation in a large computing center environment
• Ability to perform physically demanding work occasionally
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a collaborative environment with time-sensitive deadlines
• Clear and concise oral/written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with high-performance disk storage systems
• Familiarity with high-performance and high-throughput computing clusters
• Working knowledge of networks and networking concepts
• Basic IT services that interface facility with user-facing services
• Configuration management and version control software
• Familiarity with Collaborative Tools, such as MatterMost and Jira

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements

• Ability and willingness to perform moderate physically demanding work occasionally
