Systems Access Analyst

About the role

The Systems Access Analyst role involves managing user access across hospital information systems, clinical applications, and network resources within a healthcare environment. This position supports the full access lifecycle, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, security policies, and role-based standards, while working closely with HR, IT, and clinical teams to maintain secure and efficient access controls.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements user account creation processes across multiple hospital and clinical systems.
• Validates access requests, ensuring proper approvals are documented before granting access.
• Captures access for new hires, contractors, and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate account setup.
• Modifies user access in response to role changes, department transfers, or employment status updates.
• Removes or disables access promptly upon employee termination or contract completion, ensuring high-risk privileges are revoked.
• Maintains documentation of all access changes, approvals, and audit logs for compliance purposes.
• Monitors and triages access management tickets, escalating high-risk or non-standard requests as needed.
• Verifies that access requests adhere to role-based standards and security policies.
• Supports internal and external audits by generating access reports and reviewing user access levels.
• Troubleshoots access issues, collaborating with technical teams to resolve login, permissions, or MFA problems.
• Communicates clearly with users and managers regarding access procedures and status updates.
• Supports security escalation procedures for suspicious activity or policy violations.

Requirements

• Experience working with hospital information systems, clinical applications, or healthcare IT environments.
• Proficient in managing access to Active Directory, email, shared mailboxes, and network resources.
• Familiar with VPN, MFA, remote access, and secure access platforms.
• Experience with clinical systems such as lab, radiology, pharmacy, or patient accounting systems.
• Knowledge of third-party hospital systems and vendor access management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and compliance.
• Able to work collaboratively with HR, IT, and clinical staff in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hospital badge access systems and privileged account management.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare security standards.
• Prior experience supporting user access audits and compliance reviews.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and access request workflows.
