System Point of Care Testing Manager
About the role
This position oversees the Point of Care Testing (POCT) department at the system level for the Medical University of South Carolina Pathology and Laboratory ICCE. This includes developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for POCT, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting training and competency assessments for clinical staff, and assisting in decision-making for POCT instrumentation and testing selection for MUSC Health.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for POCT
- Ensure regulatory compliance for POCT operations
- Conduct training and competency assessments for clinical services personnel
- Aid in decision-making for POCT instrumentation and testing selection for MUSC Health
- Serve as a system resource for POCT to all health partners
- Review and evaluate POCT data and patient results for acceptability
- Resolve aberrant data and results
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
- Routinely round on customers to ensure their needs are met
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline with a minimum of 4 years POCT experience
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification

- Ability to review quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, evaluations, and correlations of POCT instrumentation
