System Operator - Water/Wastewater Utility

About the role

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, seeks a Systems Operator in the Candlewick/Poplar Grove area. This role involves operating and maintaining equipment for water and wastewater treatment facilities, assisting with customer service, and responding to work orders.

Responsibilities

• Operate / maintain wastewater treatment lagoons, lift stations, collection systems, and spray irrigation.
• Operate / maintain water treatment plant, well facilities, pumping, and storage facilities.
• Operate / maintain vehicles & equipment used in water and wastewater facilities.
• Perform / record inspections & tests on systems' and facilities' operations.
• Collect, analyze, and record water & wastewater samples for regulatory compliance and process control monitoring.
• Prepare reports required by the Company, IEPA, ICC, or other jurisdictional entities.
• Respond to customer service, water distribution, and/or collection system work orders.
• Assist with other tasks or projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma (or Equivalent).
• Professional experience working with industrial mechanical systems and/or pumps preferred.
• Experience working in a Utility environment, especially with Waste Water or Water treatment, preferred.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License; CDL preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Mathematical ability to perform calculations for various ratios, dosages, and volumetric calculations.
• Computer literate with database tools and ability to operate plant processes through computer-controlled equipment.
• Able to lift and move equipment in excess of 50lbs and work in confined spaces.
• Subject to travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.
