Essential Duties
- Knowledgeable of maintenance work related to mechanical and minor electrical equipment associated with wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
- Capable of performing plumbing and piping work with various materials including PVC, PE, copper, steel, and cast iron.
- Requires good mechanical skills for repairing/replacing plant equipment such as pumps, instruments, chemical feed equipment, etc.
- Operates all necessary tools and equipment for plant and pump station-related work.
- Operates electrical components up to 240 volts, including wiring power to motors, control wiring, and testing basic electrical and electronic components.
- Maintains operations of assigned wastewater facilities, conducts testing and analysis, and reports for proper operation and compliance with regulatory permits.
- Makes and implements recommendations for process changes and adjustments to improve operational performance.
- Maintains collection system performance and pump stations, and makes recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
- Maintains facility records, prints, equipment manuals, and operating data, and accurately generates and completes work orders using company software.
- Assists management and supervisors in developing and administering safety procedures.
- Maintains monitoring of PLC networks to review automated operation of wastewater facilities.
- Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid US driver’s license required.
- Wastewater Class E collection system license.
- Five (5) years of maintaining equipment and systems in an industrial environment preferred.
- An Associate’s degree or certification in mechanical or electrical competency preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in MS Office or related software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet and follow Aqua safety requirements, including training and operational support.
- Team player with multi-tasking ability.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- On-call availability on a weekly rotational basis.
- Travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.
Pay
The hourly rate of pay is $37.90 per hour*. All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after April 1, 2021 will receive a $3.00 per hour wage reduction, which will be returned in one-dollar ($1.00) increases over a three-year period. Employees will also receive annual contract increases.
