About the Role
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking personnel to support the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, taking day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. This position is contingent upon contract award and funding.
Responsibilities
- Support new machining center installations and/or existing machining production operations through configuration management activities, various paperwork activities, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities
- Perform troubleshooting and improvement activities
- Apply systems and equipment expertise to resolve technical system and equipment issues in cooperation with other related disciplines
- Interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees
Qualifications
- ABET accredited BS degree in an Engineering discipline plus 15 or more years of relevant professional experience, or an MS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with 12 or more years of relevant experience
- Machining experience required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment
- Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
- Experience in Integrated Safety Management
- Candidates with systems and equipment experience in mechanical and electrical systems
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a production environment
Schedule
- Expected work schedule: M–Th, 40 hrs/week with potential for occasional overtime

- Job-related pre-placement medical examinations may be required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance; if designated as a WSAP position, participation in an ongoing random drug testing program is required
