System Engineer, Level 3

About the role

System Engineers ensure complex systems are built with clarity, consistency, and technical discipline from start to finish. They guide systems through every phase—concept, development, production, utilization, support, and retirement—while navigating technical questions, resolving challenges with Government partners, and keeping communication flowing across teams and leadership. Their work spans the full ISO/IEC 15288 framework, shaping requirements, architecture, integration, verification, planning, risk, configuration, quality, and acquisition activities with precision.

Security Clearance Requirements

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering activities and assist in the preparation of work products in Technical Process Areas associated with the ISO/IEC 15288.
• Perform systems engineering activities and assist in the preparation of multiple work products in Project and/or Technical Process Areas associated with any of the ISO/IEC 15288 processes.
• Assist in performing systems engineering activities in the ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
• Perform analysis of technical alternatives for a project and make preliminary recommendations.
• Develop and deliver work products in any of the ISO/IEC 15288 Process Areas.
• Perform systems engineering activities and develop and deliver work products in either the ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
• Independently analyze and recommend alternatives for elements of a project’s technical design.
• Perform systems engineering activities and develop and deliver work products in each of the ISO/IEC 15288 Project and Technical Process Areas.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus six (6) years of systems engineering experience.
• A High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of general system engineering experience (any Process Area) may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
• A Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience.
• A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience.

Pay

Starting salary is based on minimum education and years of experience and increases based on education and/or experience. Salary range: $132,100 to $147,100 per year.
