About the role
The Systems Engineer will support ongoing Lonza operations through technical assistance as it relates to computerized systems infrastructure for process automation and QC laboratory systems. This person provides a technical resource to operations customers to ensure that systems are designed and operating to meet production needs.
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain manufacturing execution systems using Emerson Syncade (or equivalent such as Lonza MODA-ES and RockwellPharma Suite) including application servers, web servers, system interfaces, and other integration points.
- Support batch record execution, electronic work instructions, and material tracking performance within the MES environments.
- Cook up MES patching, upgrades, and system validation testing in accordance with change control procedures.

- Serve as primary technical point of contact for MES-related system incidents, working closely with production, automation engineering teams, and quality to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot data flow, perform ad-hoc queries, manage vendor tickets, lead root cause analysis, and provide 24/7 on-call support.
- Maintain IT and regulatory compliance, update system documentation, and collaborate on site and global projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent practical experience with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
- 3+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and SQL Server.
- A strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server administration, including hands-on experience with Active Directory and related Windows services and an understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware or HyperV.
- Experience administering platforms like Emerson Syncade and data historians like OSIsoft PI.
- Proficiency in PowerShell and Visual Basic for automation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Kepware, FactoryTalk, OPC Router, and DCOM/OPC configurations.
- Background in validated GxP environments, change control, and relevant technical certifications.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
- Experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and SQL Server.
- Proficiency in PowerShell and Visual Basic for automation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Kepware, FactoryTalk, OPC Router, and DCOM/OPC configurations.
- Background in validated GxP environments, change control, and relevant technical certifications.
