Systems Engineer, Level 3
About the role
AFSS, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) program.
Responsibilities
- Performing system modeling using MBSE tools and techniques to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors and provide support to system design.
- Sustaining and collaborating with radar subject matter experts to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete.
- Participating in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure technical quality and engineering rigor as appropriate.
- Engaging in communications with the Customer in support of scope and requirements definition.
- Supporting system requirements reviews and creating and/or updating requirement specifications and technical documentation in order to meet contractual delivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Data Accession Lists (DALs).
- Generating, reviewing, and updating systems engineering documentation and collaborating with radar subject matter experts to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent, and complete.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with five (5) years of systems engineering experience; or three (3) years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or a PhD.
- Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher.
- Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS, Jira, and Confluence.
Qualifications
- Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
- Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS), Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP), or other ground-based radars such as the Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS).
- Familiarity or experience in using a discrepancy management tool, such as Jira.
- Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe.
