About the role
The Nitro High Memory and HPC team supports new members and builds purpose-built platforms for high-performance computing and database workloads. Engineers are expected to work across domains such as PC peripheral firmware or Linux Kernel internals to deliver features and new instance types for customers.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS.
- Work with system BIOS for bare-metal instances and drive critical system interactions within the Nitro Hypervisor and across EC2 control-plane services.
- Develop and maintain high-performance computing and database workloads with tens of terabytes of memory.
- Collaborate with senior members to deliver features and new instance types for customers.
- Work in C/C++ or Rust with supporting scripts and tests in Python and Lua.
Requirements
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 1+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems.
- 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering.
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
Qualifications
- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java.
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Pay
$148,700.00 - $201,200.00 USD annually
