System Development Engineer, Customer Terminal Hardware Team, Amazon Leo Customer Terminal
About the role
The System Development Engineer will architect and deliver software solutions that enable testing, validation, and optimization of next-generation hardware systems for the Customer Terminals. This role is critical to the success of Amazon LEO's mission to provide fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Architect and design embedded software solutions for onboard power management systems.
- Develop close-loop control algorithms leveraging sensor peripherals, microcontrollers, and custom silicon.
- Enable data-driven performance insights through automated test execution, collection, and analysis pipelines.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure that every Leo device shipped meets requirements.
- Define and execute software release processes, CI/CD, and quality verification.
- Work hands-on with hardware test equipment.
- Deliver clear documentation and user-focused software for engineering and manufacturing teams.
Requirements
Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
Experience with Linux/Unix.
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, C++, C#.
Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded systems.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee due to applicable export control laws and regulations.
Skills
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
Experience using hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools.

$98,750 - $160,000 annually
