About the role

The System Development Engineer will architect and deliver software solutions that enable testing, validation, and optimization of next-generation hardware systems for the Customer Terminals. This role is critical to the success of Amazon LEO's mission to provide fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design embedded software solutions for onboard power management systems.
  • Develop close-loop control algorithms leveraging sensor peripherals, microcontrollers, and custom silicon.
  • Enable data-driven performance insights through automated test execution, collection, and analysis pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure that every Leo device shipped meets requirements.
  • Define and execute software release processes, CI/CD, and quality verification.
  • Work hands-on with hardware test equipment.
  • Deliver clear documentation and user-focused software for engineering and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.

Experience with Linux/Unix.

Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, C++, C#.

Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded systems.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee due to applicable export control laws and regulations.

Skills

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.

Experience using hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools.

$98,750 - $160,000 annually
