About the role

AWS is looking for a System Development Engineer to join a global Data Center Engineering team. The role involves designing, developing, automating, and continuously innovating within the company's expanding and evolving data center footprint. The Systems Development Engineer will work on electrical and mechanical controls systems that programmatically scale compute capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.
  • Work has deep and far-reaching impact on overall product design/solutions.
  • Advises peer engineers and management team.
  • Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
  • Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
  • Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
  • Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
  • Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
  • Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
  • Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology is a plus

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

  • USA, OH, COLUMBUS - 129,200.00 - 174,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, TX, Austin - 129,200.00 - 174,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, VA, Herndon - 129,200.00 - 174,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle - 129,200.00 - 174,800.00 USD annually

Schedule

Full-time position.
