About the role

AWS is looking for a System Development Engineer to join a global Data Center Engineering team. This role focuses on the design, development, automation, and continuous innovation of electrical and mechanical controls systems within the company's expanding data center footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with the ability to influence and drive others.
  • Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.
  • Advises peer engineers and management team.
  • Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
  • Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
  • Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
  • Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
  • Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
  • Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
