Responsibilities
- Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters.
- Support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
- Use Microsoft PowerShell to automate tasks related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of IT systems and services.
- Install a server into a rack, load and configure a Windows Operating System on it.
- Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot a server and load an image onto it with Windows Deployment Server.
- Replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, and determining the status of a switch port.
- Evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies on site and consider emerging technologies.
- Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current Version).
- Troubleshoot Windows Server Update Services issues, including using the SFC and DISM programs.
- Manage tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations used for archiving user data and performing system backups.
- Refill the inventory of blank tapes, manage non-normal operations, and identify/correct unexpected situations like Arcserve backup and replication.
- Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Windows Admin Center.
- Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing a variety of Remote Server Administrative Tools (RSAT), such as Active Directory Users and Computers, Remote Desktop Hyper-V Manager, Failover Cluster Manager, and Windows Deployment Services.
- Recognize failed hardware such as hard drives, power supplies, components, or entire servers.
- Follow detailed instructions to identify, troubleshoot, and replace faulty equipment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have relevant work experience in Systems/Equipment installation, administration, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and validation of installation of components, including:
- The ability to create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of managing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Failover Clusters.
- Experience with managing, configuring, and troubleshooting various mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
- Experience using Microsoft PowerShell to automate tasks related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of IT systems and services.
- Experience installing a server into a rack, loading and configuring a Windows Operating System on it.
- Experience PXE booting a server and loading images with Windows Deployment Server.
- Experience replacing/installing RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server.
- Basic network troubleshooting skills, including resolving IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, and determining switch port statuses.
- Ability to evaluate existing technologies and consider emerging technologies.
- Experience adding, configuring, and managing Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current Version).
