Responsibilities

  • Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters.
  • Support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
  • Use Microsoft PowerShell to automate tasks related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of IT systems and services.
  • Install a server into a rack, load and configure a Windows Operating System on it.
  • Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot a server and load an image onto it with Windows Deployment Server.
  • Replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server.
  • Troubleshoot basic network issues, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, and switch port status.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies and consider emerging technologies.
  • Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current Version), including File and Storage Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services.
  • Diagnose and resolve Windows Server Update Services issues, using SFC and DISM programs.
  • Manage tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations for archiving user data and performing system backups.
  • Refill inventory of blank tapes, manage non-standard operations, and correct unexpected situations like Arcserve backup and replication.
  • Configure and monitor systems/servers using Windows Admin Center and various Remote Server Administrative Tools (RSAT).
  • Utilize SQL Server Management Tools to configure and monitor SQL servers.
  • Identify and replace faulty hardware, such as hard drives, power supplies, components, or entire servers.
  • Follow detailed instructions to troubleshoot and replace faulty equipment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in Systems/Equipment installation, administration, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and validation of installation of components.
  • Knowledge of creating, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting virtual machines using Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Experience managing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Failover Clusters.
  • Understanding of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft PowerShell for automation.
  • Experience installing and configuring servers, including loading Windows OS, PXE booting, and replacing hardware components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues and perform PXE booting and image loading.
  • Knowledge of evaluating existing technologies and considering emerging technologies.
  • Experience adding, configuring, and managing Roles and Features on Microsoft Server, including File and Storage Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving Windows Server Update Services issues using SFC and DISM programs.
  • Experience managing tape backup systems, including tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations.
  • Ability to refill inventory of blank tapes, manage non-standard operations, and correct unexpected situations like Arcserve backup and replication.
