Responsibilities
- Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters.
- Support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
- Use Microsoft PowerShell to automate tasks related to IT systems and services.
- Install a server into a rack, load and configure a Windows Operating System on it.
- PXEBoot a server and load an image onto it with Windows Deployment Server.
- Replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server.
- Troubleshoot basic network issues, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, and switch port status.
- Evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies and consider emerging technologies.
- Add, configure, and manage roles and features on Microsoft Server, including File and Storage Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services.
- Diagnose and resolve Windows Server Update Services issues using SFC and DISM programs.
- Manage tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations for archiving user data and system backups.
- Refill inventory of blank tapes, manage non-standard operations, and correct unexpected situations like Arcserve backup and replication.
- Configure and monitor systems/servers using Windows Admin Center and various Remote Server Administrative Tools (e.g., Active Directory Users and Computers, Remote Desktop Hyper-V Manager, Failover Cluster Manager, Windows Deployment Services).
- Configure and monitor SQL servers using SQL Server Management Tools.
- Identify and replace faulty hardware such as hard drives, power supplies, components, or entire servers.
- Follow detailed instructions to troubleshoot and replace faulty equipment.
Qualifications
- Relevant work experience in Systems/Equipment installation, administration, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and validation of installation of components.
- Knowledge of creating, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting virtual machines using Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Experience managing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Failover Clusters.
- Understanding of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft PowerShell for automation.
- Experience installing and configuring servers, including PXE booting and loading images.
- Skills in replacing/installing RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues.
- Capacity to evaluate existing technologies and consider emerging technologies.
- Experience adding, configuring, and managing roles and features on Microsoft Server.
- Knowledge of diagnosing and resolving Windows Server Update Services issues.
- Experience managing tape backup systems, including refilling inventory and handling unexpected situations.
- Proficiency in configuring and monitoring systems/servers using Windows Admin Center and Remote Server Administrative Tools.
- Experience configuring and monitoring SQL servers.
- Ability to recognize and replace faulty hardware.
- Compliance with polygraph examinations after onboarding.
