About the Role

The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Systems Analyst will serve as the technical lead for the implementation and support of the AMI platform, including Meter Data Management (MDM) and Meter Asset Management (MAM). This role requires a deep understanding of AMI technologies, such as networking, system and application software. The Systems Analyst will collaborate with various Information Technology teams to ensure effective system testing and timely information delivery to internal customers. Additionally, this role involves capacity planning for infrastructure over a five-year horizon, ensuring cost-effective and current technology solutions while adhering to budget constraints.

The Systems Analyst will work cross-functionally with IT support teams and business units to improve systems performance and comply with corporate computing security requirements. As the technical lead for the AMI technical architecture team, this role may involve participation in all aspects of the project, including close collaboration with AMI and IT teams.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the analysis of system problems and the formulation of system changes, with guidance.
  • Troubleshoot production application issues, review performance, and document results and root cause analyses.
  • Ensure implementation of company safety, health, and environmental programs for directed employees, adhering to safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to company principles, standards of business conduct, and procedures, including Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) policies.
  • Support software upgrades through consistent development practices, including tools, common components, and documentation.
  • Gain experience supporting critical IT systems responsible for 24/7 AMI infrastructure operations, while developing data analytical skills.
  • Support department goals by analyzing system problems and preparing for system changes and upgrades, including monitoring and documentation updates.
  • Gather and refine system requirements from business users and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Support the iteration and maintenance of IT systems within the AMI ecosystem, including smart electric meters, gas meters, and leak detectors.
  • Collaborate with system specialists on application improvements and work with vendors to deploy software fixes and support testing.
  • Assist in troubleshooting high-priority system issues and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Perform other assignments as needed by the department, including routine maintenance change management for production moves.
  • Maintain code integrity and organizational standards through version control and documentation best practices.
  • Develop monitoring alerts and queries, and train junior staff for day-to-day operations.
  • Participate in developing proactive, predictive, and preventative alerting procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and four (4) years of experience in an Information Technology (IT) related field, or Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience in an IT-related field.
  • Knowledge of application support, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Exposure to systems design across one or more platforms and supporting future integrations.
  • Understanding of Waterfall, Agile, or other rapid application development methods.
  • Experience with technical documentation and communication to IT and business groups.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL or other query tools, Azure DevOps, and Python (preferred).
  • Exposure to Grafana and IT-created dashboards (preferred).
  • Experience supporting a large infrastructure of systems (preferred).
  • Strong sense of ownership, collaboration, curiosity, empathy, open-mindedness, and innovation (preferred).

Additional Information

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment, requiring availability during non-business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, travel within the company service territory, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Must be flexible with work hours, be on call, and possess a valid Driver's License.
