System Administrator II - Onsite
About the role
Our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics—from detecting threats for F-35 and F-22 pilots to illuminating the night for soldiers. In this role, you will support classified closed area Information Systems, including servers, workstations, test-equipment PCs, and peripherals. Responsibilities include configuring and ensuring the functionality of Domains, Active Directory, Group Policies, Virtual Environments, and Backup Solutions.
This role requires full-time, on-site work at a BAE Systems facility due to the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and the nature of the work.
Responsibilities
- Assist a team of IT personnel in supporting internal customers.
- Design, implement, and manage lab infrastructure to meet project requirements.
- Manage authentication, file-shares, and collaboration servers to support heterogeneous client systems.
- Work with facility security staff to develop and apply hardening initiatives for systems to secure them against vulnerabilities.
- Occasional off-hours responses to outages and participation in service restoration efforts.
Requirements
- Active DoD security clearance (Secret required; Top Secret preferred).
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
- AS or BS degree in a computer-related field, or 4 years of experience in the IT industry.
Skills
- General understanding of Active Directory, including managing user accounts, shares, computer objects, DHCP, and DNS settings.
- Group Policy Management: ability to identify, modify, and troubleshoot GPO settings.
- Experience with server-based backup solutions like Backup Exec or VEEAM (disk or LTO tape storage).
- General understanding of NAS (Network Attached Storage) solutions, with a focus on NETAPP hardware (a plus).
- Knowledge of security patching tools, including Windows KB updates, WSUS, or PowerShell-based script patching solutions (a plus).
- Ability to manage Trellix (McAfee) ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) for central server-based anti-virus and exfiltration end-point client software (ENS, DLP, DE, FRMP).
- Ability to manage VMWare ESXi VM Servers, including standing up new Virtual Machines and maintaining existing VMs.
- Ability to set up workstations, laptops, printers, and other desktop peripherals, including loading operating systems, drivers, and application software.
- Knowledge of building servers from out-of-the-box, including rack mounting, configuring RAID storage, and loading operating systems (a plus).
Preferred Skills
- VMware and ESXi systems experience, including upgrades, VM imports, and migrations.
- Flexera LMTOOLs or other concurrent licensing software experience.
- Windows Server upgrading and troubleshooting.
- SQL database troubleshooting and maintenance.
- LINUX (RHEL) run and maintain skills.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,365 – $134,921. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
