System Administrator 1
About the role
We are seeking a System Administrator 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit, you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high-growth markets.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will work as part of a team to monitor, maintain, and test Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM, and other electronic security systems, as well as support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems for endpoint devices. The position provides Tier 1 helpdesk support.
- Provide assistance to end users in accessing and using IT systems.
- Answer helpdesk phone calls; triage initial calls, provide support, and determine when escalation is required.
- Utilize a technology-based problem-tracking system (e.g., ticketing system) to document helpdesk calls, troubleshooting steps, and escalations.
- Monitor enterprise system status for problems such as network outages or degraded services; provide initial troubleshooting and notify senior administrators when required.
- Support daily operations, including monitoring and reviewing system logs.
- Support configuration and management of Windows operating systems, including installing/loading OS software.
- Support desktop hardware and OS setup, imaging, software loading, and antivirus updates.
- Support application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to Windows-based operating systems (servers and workstations).
- Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of third-party applications.
- Perform root cause analysis on significant issues at the appropriate level of support.
- Support preventive maintenance actions, including system backups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks.
- Stay current with technological developments and recommend ways to leverage new and emerging technology.
- Contribute to technical documentation, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs) and as-built documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Perform all duties under direct supervision.
Requirements
- BS degree and 0+ years of progressive experience or HS Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of progressive experience.
- System administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving issues, analyzing system data, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
- Demonstrated understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Basic knowledge of large-scale networking, VLANs, and routing.
- Reliable attendance at the customer site during work hours as required.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Certification or experience in Genetec Access Control System and Genetec Video Management System (desired).
- Experience programming/administrating Access Control Systems of any type (desired).
- Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security electronics equipment (desired).
- Experience with access management, including clearance and user credentials, and routine audits of cardholders, accesses, and clearances.
