System Admin and IT support

About the role

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator and IT Support professional to join our team at City University Ajman. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our software, hardware, and networks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems.
• Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Configure, manage, and maintain email systems, servers, and network equipment.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Provide end-user support and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.
• Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
• Develop and maintain documentation for IT systems and procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
• Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.
• Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, or other languages.
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms (Windows, Linux, macOS).
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
• BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus.
