Sylheti Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring bilingual Sylheti-English phone interpreters to work remotely from their home office. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and adhere to industry-specific terminologies and procedures.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Handle emotionally and/or stressful calls with professionalism and neutrality.

Requirements

• Fluency in Sylheti and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate and remain detached during sensitive calls.
• Education or experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages preferred.

Qualifications

• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
• Experience with LLS technology and software.
• Access to a dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• High-speed internet connection with specified requirements.
• Physical ability to operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Quiet workspace free from background noise or distraction.

Benefits

Not applicable for independent contractors.

Pay

$0.75 - $0.90 per minute.
