The Switchboard PBX Operator staffs the Telecommunication Office, serving as a vital point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, and the general public. What you will do in this role

• Operate telecommunication systems to answer, assess, and route calls
• Respond to and manage emergency requests and alarms
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in the telecommunication office
• Ensure confidentiality of all employee, physician, and patient information
• Operate ARC Console Suite to provide information and directions
• Act as an informational resource regarding all departments and services
• Work with Admissions, Security, Valet Service, and Patient Transport Services
• Contact Environmental Services and Facilities for maintenance issues
• Answer all incoming calls from the general public, patients, physicians, and staff
• Route calls to the appropriate location as directed by department guidelines
• Utilize the public address system for emergency notifications and routine announcements
• Assist staff, physicians, and patients in placing outgoing calls
• Maintain awareness of changes to off-shift and on-call staff and physicians
• Monitor and take action with security and facility alarms (Signet/Rauland, Zettler, Simplex, Beacon Medical Products, Pelmac, Pinpoint/Help Alert, AiPhone, Call24)
• Keep current of all Inter-department communications through department, and hospital-wide email, Shift Reports, Operator Notes in SharePoint, memos, hospital publications, and verbal report between shifts from colleagues
• Participate in assigned role in disaster drills and other emergency situations
• Follow specific guidelines related to the Daily Shift Duties

Qualifications

• High School Graduate / GED required
• 1 year hospital switchboard/communications experience preferred
