Switchboard Operator PRN

Responsibilities

• Receives all incoming calls to the hospital, directing them to house extensions or patient rooms
• Handles in-house paging, codes, and dial-a-page system
• Manages emergency calls and pages, contacting appropriate personnel as needed
• Updates switchboard files with current room numbers, discharged patients, new admissions, and employee information for disaster procedures
• Handles intercom paging and general information requests from in-house and external callers
• Contacts on-call personnel as requested by the Nursing Supervisor during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; relays messages via paging or home calls
• Maintains and updates bulletin board information and disaster policies/procedures
• Stays informed of all changes affecting switchboard functions

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
