Switchboard Operator PRN

About the role

Sovah Health is a regional health care delivery system with two hospital campuses - Danville and Martinsville. Each campus has a 24/7 Emergency Room, Outpatient Imaging Center, and over 20 primary and specialty care physician clinics. Licensed for 220 beds, Sovah Health - Martinsville is a full-service, acute-care hospital that has been serving the Martinsville, Henry County, and surrounding region since 1970. It is the region's only designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center.

Responsibilities

• Receives and routes all incoming calls to the hospital per protocol.
• Handles all emergency calls and pages.
• Responsible for in-house paging, codes, and dial-a-page system.
• Handles all intercom paging and general information from in-house and outside calling parties.
• Keeps Switchboard files updated with current room numbers, discharged patients, and new admissions.
• Maintains updated employee information for disaster procedure files.

Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work variable shifts and rotate weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Pay

Hourly range: $14.41 - $17.79
