Switchboard Operator

Operates the call attendant Cisco Phone System, handles patient, physician, and all other incoming calls for McLaren Lapeer Region. Monitors alarms and answers emergency phone lines in the Communications area. Uses various communication platforms to notify physicians and staff as needed. Answers calls for MHG satellites (Hospice, Home Care, and Infusion) after hours. Processes and delivers forms, central copy jobs, mail, test results, medical records, and informational data to all departments. Delivers and exchanges patient telephones and other communication equipment. Assists with communication and department projects.

Responsibilities

• Operates the call attendant Cisco Phone system (switchboard)
• Monitors all alarms in the Communications area and uses various paging systems to notify physicians and staff members
• Answers and handles emergency telephone calls
• Utilizes and updates the online MHG and physician call schedule as needed
• Processes and delivers all forms and central copy jobs for departments
• Performs central copy and mailroom functions
• Delivers mail, test results, medical records, and informational data to all departments
• Delivers and exchanges patient telephones and other communication equipment
• Assists with various communication and other department projects

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to alphabetize and file
• Ability to read and write

Qualifications

• Previous experience/training as a Switchboard Operator (preferred)
• Clerical skills (preferred)
• Computer training - Microsoft Office applications (preferred)

Schedule

• Full-time, variable shift
• 72 hours per pay period
• Weekends required
• No on-call duty
