Switchboard Operator

About the role

The Switchboard Operator at Centerpoint Health - Versailles Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital's communication systems. This position is vital in supporting the hospital's mission to provide exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Receives all incoming calls to the hospital, including house extensions and patient rooms.
• Handles in-house paging, codes, and dial-a-page system operations.
• Updates switchboard files with current room numbers, discharged patients, new admissions, and other relevant information.
• Maintains updated employee information for disaster procedure files.
• Takes and relays messages to on-call personnel using various methods like paging, beeping, or calling their homes.
• Keeps the bulletin board and disaster policies and procedures up-to-date.
• Stays informed about any changes affecting switchboard functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
