Switchboard Operator

Under the direction of the Switchboard supervisor, the switchboard operator answers, evaluates and facilitates incoming calls to the Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals, Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers and associated medical offices. Responsibilities

• Answers the hospital emergency code phone and follows written procedure including sending page messages to the code team.
• Documents specific patient and required information into the hospital code record.
• Utilizes the two‑way radio communication system to keep the hospital security team up to date with emergency situations.
• Monitors safety/security alarms for inpatient and the emergency departments, operating room gases and fire alarm system for Addison Gilbert Hospital.
• Partners with the medical staff to assist in the completion of decedent paperwork utilizing the Massachusetts state death registry website.
• Regularly communicates with funeral homes to coordinate decedent transfer out of the hospital.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Working knowledge of email and Microsoft Office
• Basic understanding of medical
