Switchboard Designer

Key Responsibilities

• Design low voltage switchboards, control panels, junction boxes, troughs, and bussed trough ways.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, component layouts, BOMs, project submittals, construction drawings, and As-Builts.
• Optimize product designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Maintain drawing quality and documentation accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, UL, and other applicable electrical standards.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and project documentation.
• Provide engineering and technical support during manufacturing and product testing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve design issues.
• Review and update drawings based on engineering changes and customer requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of design standards and engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

• Related college degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience designing low and medium voltage switchboards or switchgear.
• Knowledge of utility metering components and electrical distribution equipment.
• Experience creating electrical drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and construction documentation.
• Ability to specify and design LV electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with electrical codes including ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and UL.
• Strong engineering, drafting, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
