Swiss CNC Set-up Operator

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Read machining instructions, blueprints, work orders, and specification sheets to define machine settings and fixtures.
• Power up and down the machine, load, and unload parts, ensuring proper tooling.
• Set up and operate machine to verify accuracy of CNC settings or programs, calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
• Verify conformance of parts to specifications using micrometers, gauges, and computerized gear checker.
• Comply with all work instructions, following and maintaining ISO/QS Standards and Northern Gear & Machining procedures, and quality certification requirements.
• Conduct all assigned and necessary preventative maintenance procedures, detect machine malfunctions, test operation of machine for functionality and performance, and make adjustments as needed.
• Confer with engineers, programmers, production employees, and management to resolve machining issues, while maintaining continuous improvement, improved tool life, reduction of tooling costs, machine downtime, improved set up time, and implementation of quality improvements.
• Assist/train operators as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Physical ability and stamina to perform essential functions, including walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, pushing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching over and under waist level, twisting for extended periods on cement.
• Versatility in verbal and written communication to complete forms, input data into computer quality, production, and engineering programs, and exchange information with other team members.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Experience operating in a fast-paced production atmosphere.
• One year of experience in set-up and operating Swiss CNC machines (required).
