Responsibilities
- Advanced Programming: Develop, simulate, and implement complex multi-axis G-code programs for Swiss-style lathes (e.g., Citizen, Tsugami, Tornos) using CAM software (Mastercam, Deco).
- Set-Up & Execution: Perform comprehensive machine setups, including the synchronization of main and sub-spindles, live tooling configuration, and high-pressure coolant integration.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement cycle time reductions and tool-life improvements through the analysis of speeds, feeds, and tool-path efficiency.
- Quality & Precision: Maintain tolerances as tight as ±.0005”. Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process monitoring using CMMs, vision systems, and manual metrology tools.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and programming issues, including vibration dampening, thermal compensation, and material-specific challenges (e.g., Titanium, Inconel, 17-4 PH).
- Departmental Mentorship: Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance to junior machinists and operators to ensure adherence to quality standards and production schedules.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in CNC Swiss machining, with at least 5 years dedicated to independent programming and setup.
- Mastery of G-code/M-code and fluency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Advanced proficiency in CAM programming and CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
- Prior experience operating within highly regulated environments, such as AS9100 (Aerospace) or ISO 13485 (Medical).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in Precision Machining or a Journeyman Certification is strongly preferred.
Skills
- Expertise in managing bar feeders and maintaining a clean, organized work area (5S).

The base salary for this role will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
