CNC Programmer
Position Overview
Creates, corrects, modifies, rewrites and verifies existing CNC machining programs. Defines manufacturing operational details including machines to be used, work to be performed, tools to be used, feeds and speeds, and cycle time. Supports and provides assistance as required to operators for various projects. Participates on productivity/corrective action teams to review product design with respective departments to optimize efficiency and cost effectiveness manufacturing methods. Utilizes the programming software to simulate tools on machines and ss parts. Establishes and maintains product data electronically creating work instructions and sketches required to fabricate parts. Conducts periodic review of existing tooling working with the Production Supervisor on replacement tooling planning.
Specific Duties Included But Not Limited To
- Figure machine offset positions - through the use of Edge Finders/Mathematical equation
- Understands, interprets and edits FANUC G-code programming
- Analyzes the job orders, drawings and blueprints
- Proves program through 1st piece approval
Qualifications
- Math Skills: Good math skills will help to understand complex instructions, how schematics work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
- Attention to Detail: CNC programmers will work with precision equipment. Being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required.
- Mastercam: intermediate to advanced knowledge expected.
- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret bar graphs and instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to apply geometric and statistical math concepts; including but not limited to, reliability and validity, variance analysis, correlation techniques, measurements and practical algebra.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with the ability to give clear and simple instructions to co-workers.
- Demonstrated knowledge using calibrations, reading drawings, blueprints and schematics, CNC machines and continuity ser/multimeter
