Swim Team Coach
About the role
This Swim Team Coach supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.
Responsibilities
- Promote Youth Development by providing and applying intentional coaching skills at each practice.
- Model and teach team members the qualities of the Y’s core character values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.
- Develop and foster positive relationships with swimmers and their families.
- Communicate clearly and precisely with children, families, staff, and members.
- Assist in the retention of existing members and engagement of new members by being knowledgeable of Aquatic programming.
- Assist in developing and appropriately adapting a weekly practice structure and program curriculum.
- Ensure that program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Respond to and report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum age 18 or older.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid.
- Ability to consistently work scheduled shifts and attend staff meetings.
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment, handling multiple tasks concurrently.
- Previous swim team coaching knowledge and experience.
- Background in competitive swimming preferred.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
