About the role
We are seeking a full-time Sweeping & Maintenance Supervisor to perform maintenance and sweeping operations in the Nashville, TN area on the TDOT Region 3 North project. This role serves as the lead for all routine nighttime operations, combining hands-on equipment operation with field supervision. Responsibilities include operating and supporting the roadway sweeping program, leading night crews, coordinating traffic control, and ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead night crews in routine maintenance and sweeping operations
- Operate and support the roadway sweeping program
- Coordinate traffic control for nighttime operations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies
- Work safely and independently in active traffic environments
- Maintain high productivity, safety, and quality standards
- Perform concrete forming/repair and operate heavy equipment (e.g., Wheel Loader, Skidsteer, Fork Lift, Asphalt Roller)
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times on the job site
- Stand for extended periods while operating equipment
- Work in a variety of environmental and weather conditions (hot, cold, wet)
- Ascend/descend structures as required for job duties
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (college courses preferred)
- 5+ years of roadway maintenance, sweeping, or construction experience
- Minimum 2 years of related experience
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a field environment
- Experience operating heavy equipment, preferably roadway sweeping equipment (Mechanical broom sweeper)
- Knowledge of traffic control practices and safety standards
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds repeatedly
- Must pass criminal background check, MVR, and controlled substance testing
- Clean driving record
- Ability to use technology such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and applications
- Ability to adjust to changing work schedules, including 24/7/365 availability
Preferred Qualifications
- Sweeping experience on streets/highways
- MOT Certifications (traffic control)
- Concrete forming experience
- Supervisory experience
Schedule
Full-time, night shift: Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 PM–4:30 AM. Must be available for some day and weekend work as needed, including during snow and ice events.
