JOB SUMMARY

The Sweper II maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fingerprinting and successful completion of a criminal background check are required.
  • Familiarity with methods of industrial cleaning and safety practices and procedures.
  • Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous custodial experience.
  • Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment.
  • Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
  • Sanitize restrooms according to departmental guidelines.
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment to provide adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
  • As needed, stand for extended periods of time, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Assist in securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to organization.
  • Attend in-service training (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) to receive information on new and improved procedures.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
  • Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectively.
  • Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information, and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
