Sustainment Engineer/System Administrator
About the role
The Sustainment Engineer/System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and administering servers, databases, applications, and cloud environments supporting CQM systems. They will also monitor system health, performance, and availability, perform patching, updates, and system upgrades, manage user access, permissions, and identity controls, implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks, support deployment and sustainment of data platforms, dashboards, and ML solutions, ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and SOPs, coordinate with cybersecurity teams for vulnerability management and incident response, and support audit readiness.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer servers, databases, applications, and cloud environments supporting CQM systems
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability (uptime, latency, capacity)
- Perform patching, updates, and system upgrades in accordance with DoD/DHA policies
- Manage user access, permissions, and identity controls (CAC/role-based access)
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks
- Support deployment and sustainment of data platforms, dashboards, and ML solutions
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements (e.g., RMF, STIGs)
- Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and SOPs
- Coincide with cybersecurity teams for vulnerability management and incident response
- Support audit readiness, including system logs, traceability, and accreditation artifacts
Requirements
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in system administration, IT operations, or infrastructure support
- Experience managing Windows/Linux servers, databases, and enterprise applications
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
- Experience with monitoring tools and system performance tuning
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements (RMF, STIG compliance)
- Experience supporting healthcare or federal IT environments preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
