Sustainability & Climate Solutions Specialist
MSCI is expanding its Sustainability & Climate Client Specialist team in the San Francisco office. This role involves managing relationships with institutional investors globally, focusing on MSCI's Sustainability & Climate research and products.
About the role
As part of a leading industry team, you will manage relationships with some of the world's largest financial institutions. You will develop expertise in MSCI's Sustainability & Climate products and understand each client's business and investment processes to help them apply these solutions across asset classes. Success is measured by account renewal rates, proactive client management, contract value growth, and collaboration with sales and client service teams. The Client Specialist owns the client experience post-sale, providing education, domain expertise, and support throughout the relationship, including renewals.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the domain expert on MSCI's Sustainability suite of products and master client objectives for integrating these solutions.
- Manage client inquiries and issue resolution using Salesforce, Gainsight, and other internal tools in partnership with the Client Service team.
- Monitor and ensure client satisfaction through projects and initiatives.
- Achieve renewal and retention targets by managing a dedicated portfolio of accounts across finance segments such as insurance, asset management, and asset owners.
- Drive revenue growth through outstanding service, proactive engagement, and relationship-building.
- Partner with Sales and Client Service Specialist teams to identify at-risk accounts, forecast risk, and develop retention plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and drive account management plans for clients.
- Conduct regular account health checks.
- Identify and communicate upsell opportunities to the sales team.
- Build subject-matter expertise to support pre-sales, upsell, and training activities.
- Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams such as Product and Research & Development on key client initiatives.
- Occasional business travel across the US West Coast to meet clients.
Requirements
- Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills.

- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to manage expectations of a diverse and demanding client base.
- Uncompromising personal and business integrity.
- 5+ years of experience, ideally in a client-facing role within financial services or sustainability.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Interest in developing strong working relationships with external clients, with exposure to sustainable investing or finance preferred.
- Willingness to leverage AI tools and techniques into day-to-day workflows.

Pay
Salary range: $110,000 - $143,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.
