About the role

The Sushi Clerk position at Hy-Vee is a non-exempt role within the Hy-Chi department. This role involves filling customer orders, handling food safely, ordering and receiving products, ensuring orders are correct, and maintaining a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service
• Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name
• Assists customers with tasks such as escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests
• Takes customer orders and answers the telephone
• Reviews orders for the day
• Ensures the work area is clean and neat, checks food for freshness, prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary, pulls product from cooler/freezer for preparation, removes trash in a timely manner, adheres to company policies, and reports to work on time

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Food Safety Certification
• Six months or more of similar or related experience

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to write identifying information
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
• Physical requirements include being able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision
