About the role

The Sushi Clerk position at Hy-Vee is part of the Hy-Chi department and is non-exempt under FLSA. Hy-Vee values its employees and promises to provide a helpful smile in every aisle.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests
• Takes customer orders and answers the telephone
• Reviews orders for the day, understands and practices proper sanitation procedures, and ensures the work area is clean and neat
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary, pulls product from cooler/freezer for preparation, checks in product, and puts product away
• Removes trash in a timely manner
• Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines

Requirements

• High school or equivalent education
• Food Safety Certification
• Six months or more of similar or related experience

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing

Pay

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.

Schedule

This is a fast-paced work environment with significant pressure. The position is continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes. There is occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals/solvents.
