About the role

The Sushi Clerk position at Hy-Vee is a non-exempt role within the Hy-Chi department. Hy-Vee values its employees and promises to provide a helpful smile in every aisle. The Sushi Clerk is responsible for various tasks including filling customer orders, handling food safely, and ensuring a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service
• Greets customers and addresses them by name
• Assists customers with tasks such as escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests
• Takes customer orders and answers the telephone
• Reviews orders for the day and understands and practices proper sanitation procedures
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary
• Washes dishes as necessary, orders product and supplies, prices product for customers, delivers orders as needed, and assists in other areas of the store as needed

Requirements

• High school or equivalent education
• Food Safety Certification
• Six months or more of similar or related experience

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to write identifying information
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
• Physical requirements include being able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision

Pay

The pay rate for this position is $15.00 per hour.

Schedule

This position is typically full-time with hours ranging from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
