About the role

The Sushi Clerk position at Hy-Vee is part of the Hy-Chi department and is non-exempt under FLSA.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests
• Takes customer orders at the Chinese Express counter
• Reviews orders for the day
• Ensures the work area is clean and neat, checks food for freshness, prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary, pulls product from cooler/freezer for preparation, removes trash in a timely manner
• Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines

Requirements

• High school or equivalent education
• Six months or more of similar or related experience
• Food Safety Certification

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to write identifying information
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to request supplies orally or in writing

Skills

• Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision
• Able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Pay

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.
