Job Description
Job Title: Sushi Clerk

General Function
This position is responsible for filling customer orders, handling food safely, ordering and receiving products, ensuring orders are correct, labeling, dating, and putting product away. Additionally, you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.

Reporting Relations
Accountable and reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Hy-Chi Department Manager; Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager; Service Managers
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
- Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name
- Aids customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests
- Takes customer orders and answers the telephone
- Reviews orders for the day
- Ensures the work area is clean and neat, checks food for freshness, prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary, pulls product from cooler/freezer for preparation, removes trash in a timely manner
- Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines
Secondary Duties And Responsibilities
- Washes dishes as necessary
- Orders product and supplies as necessary
- Pricers product for customers as necessary
- Delivers orders as needed
- Affords assistance in other areas of store as needed
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Worker Characteristics
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to write identifying information
- Ability to request supplies orally or in writing
Education And Experience
- High school or equivalent experience
- Food Safety Certification
- Six months or more of similar or related experience
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Physically able to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
- Physically able to exert 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision
- Able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
Working Conditions
- Continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes
- Occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals/solvents
- This is a fast-paced work environment with significant pressure
