Surveyor 1

Description of Work

This position supports important engineering and mapping projects that help the bureau. The role involves gathering and interpreting survey data used in construction, design, and land evaluation. As a Surveyor 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Survey Coordination: Coordinate surveying activities for preliminary, construction, and final surveys
• Data Review: Review legal, technical, and professional sources to resolve issues with property boundaries or land features
• Field Operations: Perform surveying tasks that support engineering design and construction projects across assigned regions
• Quantity Calculations: Calculate earth and rock quantities using standard engineering methods for contract determinations
• Technical Documentation: Prepare and revise deed descriptions to ensure clarity and accuracy
• Problem Resolution: Work with engineering staff to address difficult surveying or engineering challenges

Qualifications Required

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Surveyor Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Five years of responsible surveying work, including one year as a chief of party of a wide variety of surveying assignments; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-specialized experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a registered surveyor’s license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor’s license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania. Other Requirements: This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License. You must meet the PA residency requirement .
