Responsibilities
- Lead daily survey operations across both field and office teams.
- Mentor and support Project Managers, Crew Chiefs, Survey Technicians, CAD staff, and field personnel.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop future team members.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support training initiatives and career development for survey staff.
- Manage multiple survey projects from proposal through final delivery.
- Develop scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and project plans.
- Maintain technical excellence across all deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership for various types of surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, transportation, construction, utility, and SUE support.
- Assume professional responsibility for survey work in accordance with industry standards.
- Support CAD mapping and survey production efforts using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related software.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private-sector clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key accounts.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and new project pursuits.
- Support proposal preparation, marketing efforts, and client presentations.
- Participate in industry organizations, networking events, and professional associations.
- Contribute to business growth initiatives and help expand market presence across the region.
Requirements
- North Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
- 10+ years of progressive surveying experience.
- Demonstrated success leading survey teams and managing complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of survey principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, and public-sector projects.
- Experience with GPS, LiDAR, laser scanning, UAV technology, and conventional survey services.
- Strong project management, budgeting, scheduling, and proposal development experience.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing client relationships and delivering exceptional service.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and survey-related software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Civil 3D experience.
- Experience in utility coordination and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE).
- Experience with right-of-way, transmission line, construction, and corridor projects.
- Established relationships within transportation, municipal, utility, or land development markets.
- Proven record of business development and market growth.
