Survey Project and Client Manager - Renewables - Salt Lake City, UT
About the role
As a Survey Project and Client Manager, you will lead survey projects supporting renewable energy and utility infrastructure throughout the West, including wind, solar, battery storage, transmission, and substation projects. You'll partner with developers, EPC contractors, utilities, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality survey solutions from early site development through construction. This role blends strong technical expertise with leadership, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver results that strengthen client relationships and grow the business.
Responsibilities
- Act as a client-facing, revenue-accountable, culture-driving leader
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring responsiveness and delivery excellence
- Identify opportunities for additional services and support proposal efforts to grow existing client relationships
- Develop and expand relationships with renewable energy developers, utilities, EPC contractors, and engineering partners
- Own project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, scope management, and change control
- Lead survey projects supporting renewable energy developments, transmission corridors, substations, and related infrastructure
- Oversee the technical quality of topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, utility corridor, and construction survey deliverables supporting renewable energy projects
- Prepare proposals and collaborate with technical teams to define project approaches
- Support pursuits for wind, solar, battery storage, transmission, and other energy infrastructure opportunities
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and direction to field and office staff
- Coordinate with DEA’s Geomatics Group and Delivery Leaders to align staffing and project needs
- Ensure adherence to DEA’s firmwide processes for contracting, project accounting, and quality standards
- Proactively collaborate with engineers, planners, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and career development of survey staff
Requirements
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, or the ability to obtain licensure within one year
- Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in land surveying
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and mentoring survey staff
- Strong client communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting renewable energy, electric transmission, substation, or utility infrastructure projects
- Existing relationships with renewable developers, utilities, or EPC firms
- Experience with aerial LiDAR, UAV mapping, or large-area topographic surveys
- Experience using Trimble Business Center
- Proficiency with Civil 3D

Pay
Potential salary range: $135,000/annually - $200,000/annually. The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
