Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm delivering practical, innovative solutions to public and private sector clients. Our Corpus Christi survey team supports critical water/wastewater infrastructure projects while also executing independent oil & gas survey work across the region.
About the role
This is a mid-level field leadership role for a hands-on professional who can lead a crew and execute field survey tasks with minimal supervision. The Survey Party Chief II will work on a variety of projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a survey crew in the field, including assigning tasks, ensuring productivity, and maintaining safety protocols.
- Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, data collectors, and UAV/drones.
- Process and analyze field data using survey software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent).
- Prepare and review survey deliverables, including plats, maps, legal descriptions, and reports.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
- Perform quality control checks on survey data and deliverables.
- Train and mentor junior survey staff and crew members.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive survey experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Licensed Surveyor in Training (SIT) or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire is a plus.
- Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, data collectors) and software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of survey principles, techniques, and standards (e.g., ALTA/NSPS, boundary, topographic, and construction surveys).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, legal descriptions, and survey plats.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift equipment, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
