Survey Party Chief

About the role

Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Survey Party Chief in the El Paso office. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in all phases of land surveying, construction, boundary and topographic surveying. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a premier architectural and engineering firm that’s on the leading edge of design and national development. Location: El Paso, Texas. Reports to: Survey Manager. Employment type: 40 FT Hours. Education: High School Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs surveying assignments, making exact measurements, and providing data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimension of land or land features.
• Operates and maintains all instruments and measuring devices including levels, robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors.
• Knowledge of Trimble field equipment and data collector software.
• Download and upload survey data to data collectors and office computers.
• Mentor and train other staff.
• Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• May assist in preparation of survey drawings using AutoCAD software.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years land surveying experience.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of surveying.
• Highly motivated.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to operate Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Trimble GPS equipment, TSC3 or above data collectors, digital levels, and other related equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willingness to learn and grow in the profession.

Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• May be required to drive to visit client or project sites for short periods of time
• Ability to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
