About the role
The Survey Manager oversees and manages survey teams for large-scale civil infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, tunnels, and utility networks. This role combines technical surveying expertise with project management skills to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage survey teams for one or more projects, coordinating across disciplines like building, highway, bridge, and tunnel construction
- Plan and supervise topographic surveys, layout staking, as-built surveys, and control networks
- Review and interpret design drawings, RFC plans, and technical specifications to ensure accurate field implementation
- Establish and maintain project control points, benchmarks, and survey networks
- Oversee field operations, including task allocation, productivity, and safety compliance
- Operate and maintain survey equipment (Total Stations, GPS, Levels, Trimble systems) and ensure proper calibration
- Cookoperate and coordinate with construction managers, field engineers, and design teams to resolve discrepancies and validate data
- Implement quality control procedures for all survey deliverables
- Prepare and maintain accurate survey documentation and reports for project records and handover
- Mentor and develop junior surveyors and technical staff
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s degree in surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field or related field experience
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in heavy civil and highway infrastructure projects, with proven survey team management experience
- Licenses: Land Surveying License (RLS, PLS, PE) preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in survey data management, Civil 3D, and heavy civil construction sequencing
- Equipment: Hands-on experience with Trimble systems, GPS RTK, total stations, and levels
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and ability to work full-time on-site
