Who we are looking for...

We are seeking a survey field crew member that will assist the Crew Chief with collection of survey data to produce an accurate survey in a timely manner. Cutting and clearing brush from survey lines, loading & unloading equipment required for the survey, assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes, marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other marks, assists in measuring between points, places stakes at designated points and specified elevations, assists in measuring between points, assists in operating all survey equipment including Total Station, GPS Data collector.

  • Assist in the operation of survey instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors under the supervision of a survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Set up survey instruments according to instructions provided by the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic cleaning of surveying instruments.
  • Support the crew chief or surveyor in conducting field surveys including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction layouts surveys.
  • Absorb any equipment issues or needs to the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Report any safety concerns or hazards to the survey crew chief or surveyor.

Required

The following skills will be required for this position:

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in Surveying and/Data Collection or related field experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina and ability to carry and operate surveying equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid driver's license.

  • Learn and follow established protocols and procedures for instrument operation and data collection.
  • Ensure accurate and precise operation of surveying instruments during data collection.
  • Collaborate with survey crew chief or surveyor to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized records of field data and assist in data management processes.
  • Follow proper procedures for the cleaning, storage, and transportation of equipment.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance understanding of surveying principles techniques and equipment.
  • Participate in training and development activities as directed.
