Responsibilities
- Manage all survey operations for the Charlotte office.
- Supervise and mentor Project Managers, Survey Technicians, CAD Technicians, Crew Chiefs, Field Technicians, and support staff.
- Monitor production levels, staff utilization, and operational performance.
- Cook up training and professional development opportunities for survey staff.
- Enforce company safety policies, protocols, and operational procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
- Manage conventional, GPS, laser scanning, LiDAR, UAV, and other survey services.
- Oversee survey support for NCDOT transportation projects and other public and private sector initiatives.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) oversight for all survey deliverables.
- Assume legal responsibility for survey work and deliverables in accordance with professional standards.
- Analyze project activities, costs, operations, and forecasts to ensure successful project performance.
- Support CAD mapping and survey deliverables using AutoCAD and MicroStation as needed.
- Support Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and utility coordination efforts when required.
- Maintain exceptional customer service and strong relationships with existing clients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with NCDOT, City of Charlotte, municipalities, utility providers, and private-sector clients.
- Work closely with the Survey Director and Charlotte Office Manager to achieve business and operational goals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, professional organizations, and strategic marketing efforts.
- Generate and document business development leads within Deltek Vision.
- Aid in developing marketing materials and proposals.
- Promote the full suite of NV5 services to clients and prospective customers.
- Participate in professional, industry, and civic organizations to increase market presence.
Qualifications
- NC Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure
- 10–15+ years of progressive surveying experience
- Proven experience managing multiple survey crews, project managers, and office staff
- Strong knowledge of survey principles, methodologies, and industry standards
- Significant experience with NCDOT transportation projects and requirements
- Experience managing conventional, GPS, laser scanning, LiDAR, and UAV survey services
- Strong project management, budgeting, and proposal development experience
- Demonstrated business development and client relationship management skills
- Experience providing QA/QC oversight for survey deliverables
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and survey-related software
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
