Survey Crew Chief
About the role
The Survey Crew Chief will lead a team of surveyors and oversee the completion of various types of field surveys, including boundary, topographic, land title surveys, and construction staking. They will also assist with data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and the preparation of survey documents.
Responsibilities
- Head up the survey crew and oversee the completion of field surveys
- Aid in data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and preparation of right-of-way plats, certified survey maps, and boundary surveys
- Provide technical assistance with writing and interpreting easement descriptions and perform courthouse research to gather property information
Requirements
- Well-developed understanding of field survey methods, plan reading, and calculations
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to walk and climb over rough terrain, carry up to 50 pounds, and work outside for up to 8-12 hours in varying temperatures
- Ability to travel as needed for projects, team meetings, and overnight stays to support out-of-town work
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of field and/or office survey experience
- Experience in basic surveying procedures including boundary / land surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking methods using Total Stations and Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
- Experience in drafting, completing computations, and an understanding of plans and easement descriptions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Field experience with Trimble Survey Equipment is a plus
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)

This position offers a competitive base compensation within the range of $26 and $36 per hour, depending on skill set and experience.
